On-site training to improve your Java application deployments:

BMC offers comprehensive on-site training for all of our products. Regardless of how many developers, administrators, architects, or other professionals need to be trained, we can accommodate them. Through our partnership with Amazon EC2 (the “Amazon Cloud”) we can scale the number of training instances quickly to accommodate any number of participants, with no additional hardware or setup required.

Training details:

BMC training starts with a series of hands-on laboratory assignments. During these labs, participants will learn the fundamental nomenclature and concepts of Phurnace (Application Release Automation) products, as well as the basic functionality of snapshots, compares, installs, and previews of configuration deployments. At the completion of this module of the training, all participants will be familiar with the product's interface and be able to make use of the core functionality of our products.

Once the basics are covered, the training will focus on best practices, such as the use of the Deployment Packager, the CLI (command line interface), integration with automation frameworks (such as BMC BladeLogic, HP Server Automation, Electric Cloud, IBM Build Forge, IBM Tivoli, etc.) and how to best use Application Release Automation with your source code repository. This part of the training is designed to give participants a jump start on integrating Application Release Automation into their current deployment process quickly and with relative ease.

Finally, our training course ends with a discourse on advanced topics, usually focused on the application server or servers being managed by the trainees. This could cover topics such as WebSphere version migration (from 5.1 to 6.1, for example), generalizing configurations across topologies, or common application server “gotchas” that we have discovered in our years of working with configuration and deployment challenges.

At the end of the BMC provided training, all attendees will be ready to start using Application Release Automation for deployments, configurations, and troubleshooting the very next day.
