Phurnace Announces Support for IBM® WebSphere® 7.0

Web Application Deployment Software Helps Enable Automated Migration to Newest IBM Release

AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) — November 4, 2008 — Phurnace Software, Inc., the Java application deployment company, today announced that its flagship product, Phurnace Deliver™, will support the new IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0. All of the Phurnace Deliver capabilities that have been available for WebSphere 5.1, 6.0, and 6.1 will now also be available for the 7.0 release. Additionally, Phurnace Deliver will automate the migration of applications from any of the previous WebSphere versions to WebSphere 7.0 and support all of the new capabilities introduced in the new release. The 7.0 support from Phurnace is planned to ship to customers in early Q1, 2009.

“Phurnace is committed to supporting the latest releases of the leading web application servers”, said Daniel Nelson, vp of products at Phurnace Software. He continued, “But we go a step further by enabling the streamlined migration of applications running on older versions of web app servers to the newer releases. This has always been a roadblock for users – they want to upgrade to the newer release, but their custom-built scripts have to be rewritten and the investment and challenges are just too high, so companies tend to stay on older, less functional releases. Phurnace is changing all of that. Migration issues will no longer be the stumbling block to upgrading.”

Phurnace Deliver provides comprehensive support for IT staff and developers during complex enterprise Java deployments to decrease errors, streamline deployments and avoid the downtime and outages that come with manual or script-based processes. The current user approach of paging through the console or building cumbersome scripts can be reduced or eliminated with Phurnace, therefore freeing up limited IT resources for more value-added tasks.

Phurnace Deliver™ provides functionality for users including:

  • Automated deployment of applications and their required configuration changes
  • A “deployment packager” to quickly bundle changes to configurations and deploy them network-wide
  • A “migration wizard” for ease of application migration from one version of app server to another
  • Ability to compare configurations across environments to aid in troubleshooting
  • Direct integration into industry standard source code repositories (e.g. Subversion™, ClearCase®, CVS)
  • Direct integration with build and operational systems (e.g. IBM Rational® Build Forge®, HP Server Automation (Opsware), BMC BladeLogic)
  • Eclipse RCP graphical user interface and command line interface (CLI) options
  • Support for a wide range of web application servers (IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic® and RedHat JBoss™)
“The immediate support of Phurnace for WebSphere 7.0 highlights the importance of this new version to the marketplace”, said Chinhua Q. Wang, IBM - Product Manager. “WebSphere 7.0 has been highly anticipated and includes numerous new capabilities and features to help our clients deliver a robust and agile platform for their business applications that ultimately enable re-use in SOA environments. Phurnace Deliver will support these new additions and help enable simple migration of applications from older versions of WebSphere to the new release.”
