Phurnace Announces Integration with IBM® Rational® Build Forge® and ClearCase®

Configuration Software Extends Enterprise Deployment Capability to Market Leading Systems

AUSTIN, Texas — April 7, 2008 — Phurnace Software, Inc., the Java application deployment company, today announced the availability of a direct integration with IBM Rational Build Forge to enable Build Forge customers to automate their application deployment processes. The productized integration also includes direct connection to the ClearCase Source Code control system from IBM. Both IBM products can be accessed directly from within the Phurnace Deliver™ user interface or launched in the background from a Build Forge process or ClearCase task. The integration also provides the capability of creating Build Forge projects from within the deployment console of Phurnace Deliver.

The integration provides customers with an end-to-end automated build and deployment process -- utilizing the Build Forge concept of projects and agents combined with the Phurnace Deliver ability to automatically configure and deploy applications. Customers will be able to more efficiently build, test, promote, and deploy applications throughout their environments.

“This integration is important because it demonstrates our commitment to fit in seamlessly to the existing infrastructure that is used for the development and deployment of software applications” said Daniel Nelson, vp of products at Phurnace Software. “This provides the final step in the software development lifecycle. Too often, companies use a manual process or a series of difficult-to-maintain scripts to prepare the environment and deliver software releases into production.”

Phurnace Deliver provides comprehensive support for IT staff and developers during complex enterprise Java troubleshooting and deployments to decrease errors, streamline implementations and avoid the downtime and outages that come with manual or script-based processes.

With the Build Forge and ClearCase integration, Phurnace Deliver customers will be able to:

  • Have a fully automated and script-less deployment process.
  • Generate audit reports of exactly what changed to a target system after a deployment.
  • Gain visibility into the changes that will happen to an environment prior to the actual deployment by leveraging the Phurnace Deliver “Preview” functionality.
  • Have the ability to fail promotions and roll-back to a prior release if deployments result in unexpected changes to the target environment.
  • Version and change control over application configuration data.

“The Phurnace integration further demonstrates that ClearCase and Build Forge have become industry standards for development organizations” said Leigh Williamson, Rational Build Forge product architect at IBM Corporation. “Phurnace’s robust features will add value for those IBM customers that want to fully automate their software deployment processes.”
