Java Application Deployment and Configuration Software Now Available to Mainframe WebSphere Customers
AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) — June 15, 2009
- Phurnace Software, Inc., the Java application deployment company, today announced that its flagship product, Phurnace Deliver™, now supports IBM WebSphere Application Server running on z/OS, the IBM mainframe operating system. This will allow customers to automate the deployment and configuration of mission critical web applications installed on IBM Series z computers -- a category of hardware expected to see significant growth with the increased adoption of private computing clouds.
“Support for z/OS is an important feature for our customers,” said Daniel Nelson, vice president of products at Phurnace Software. “As our customer base has grown to include some of the largest and most sophisticated IT organizations in the world, demand for WebSphere support running on mainframes has also grown. This will allow widespread use of Phurnace’s automated application deployment and configuration feature set, regardless of the underlying architecture or hardware platform.”
With Phurnace’s z/OS support, customers running WebSphere application server will be able to:
- Snapshot existing systems and model their current configuration
- Deploy new applications and configurations without scripts or manual intervention
- Move web applications seamlessly from development to test to production environments
- Preview changes to an environment prior to installation
- View robust reporting to see what has specifically changed or what is planned to change in a WebSphere environment
- Compare environments to discover configuration drift
- Migrate web applications from one version of WebSphere to another
“We quickly realized the sheer capacity that z/OS implementations could provide our customers as they scaled their web applications, especially important to those building private clouds,” said Robert Reeves, CTO of Phurnace. He continued, “Working directly with the IBM Innovation Center in Dallas, we were able to make the necessary modifications to Phurnace Deliver to support the unique and powerful capabilities of WebSphere for z/OS. They are a skilled team and made our development and testing process painless.”
Phurnace’s support of z/OS will be generally available in the third quarter, 2009.
