This is a question our sales team received from a customer:

How does the software handle the install of one server profile to a new server? Does it create a jython _script_ to install the resources and settings on the new server using the resource._xml_ from the existing profile or does it actually manipulate the system _xml_ files of the target server?

We rely on the WebSphere Management API’s to make changes to your WAS configuration. Thus, we are actually a replacement for Jython, JACL and wsant _script_s.

We abstract the configuration data from the mechanism (unlike _script_s) and that allows us to do some pretty nifty things. One of those is taking a snapshot of a “known good” configuration and moving it to a completely different server. We also abstract the topology of the target environments so we can take the same configuration and move it to a standalone server or to a massive Network Deployment installation.

Thus, your only artifact is a single _xml_ file that defines how the application should be configured on the server or servers.
